OCT 26: Dr Abel spoke to an enthusiastic crowd of mystery lovers who also were interested in hearing about the underlying eye concepts in Lumi and Lethal hindsight. The audience was amazed at the multiple systemic connections to eye health. The parallels between cognitive ability and heart health with vision was reviewed. Also, the role of the liver, the necessity of sleep and dietary choices were new to most of the listeners.

Natur-Tyme Radio
AUG 29: Dr. Abel shared natural remedies to ailments commonly treated with Western approaches. One of several topics discussed with Host Wendy Meyerson was the relationship between the liver and vision. Dr Abel explained that sleep deprivation effects our liver, which in turn can lead to poor vision. In addition, like many of his radio appearances, callers had the opportunity to ask Dr. Abel their own questions directly.

Red Clay Consolidated School District – School Eye Screening
JUNE 16: Vision is often overlooked as a reason why some children are having challenges at school. In fact, many parents do not follow through on bringing their children to an eye exam, let alone getting glasses. Dr. Abel empowered Middle School nurses to fill this gap. He spoke with them about using vision screening as a proactive step to discovering common eye problems. Dr. Abel shared some simple tests for performing a better eye screening exam and suggested ways for the nurses to receive feedback from the teachers.

Delaware State Chamber of Commerce Wellness at Work Conference
JUNE 14: Dr. Abel moderated this medical professional panel and shared his advice and ideas about wellness. He stated that prevention is not typically discussed by eye physicians and unfortunately must be explored by company nurses and patients themselves. Good vision is fundamental for job performance. Therefore, general health tips will add to efficiency, attendance and personal achievement.

JUNE 4: Lumi was introduced at the Chestertown Book Plate. Using both Lumi’s Book of Eyes and Lethal hingsight (Dr Abel’s latest medical thriller), Dr. Abel described how the novel could provide a different venue to emphasize eye health.

Eye Health radio
MAY 17: On the Power Hour Eye Radio Show, Dr. Abel fielded questions from listeners across the country. The eye is often skipped as a fundamental organ to our body and our way of experiencing life. Patients often receive a diagnosis without knowing what they can do besides taking some pills or drops. Dr. Abel provided plenty of options to callers, all of which are available in his book The Eye Care Revolution.

Dr. Abel and Lumi visit the Delaware Children’s Museum
MAY 16: Dr. Abel and Lumi inaugurated the launching of Lumi’s Book of Eyes and the forthcoming children’s book series at the opening of the Delaware Children’s Museum. Projected on a large screen, Dr. Abel exhibited each page of the book, engaging the children with his amazing variety of creatures. Afterwards, while the children were given crayons to draw their own adventures with Lumi, parents received handouts about the philosophy of using Lumi as an educational resource.
