Abel Eyes adds Vitamin D
Able-Eyes adds Vitamin D
Able-Eyes, a multivitamin for eye health has added 1000 IU, of Vitamin D-3 per soft gel. We are learning that Vitamin D has so many useful health benefits such as:
· Decreases the risk of macular degeneration
· Improves bone density and affects calcium metabolism
· Improves memory
· Improves immunity
· Decreases inflammation and congestive heart failures
· Decreases risk of corneal infection
· Decreases C-reactive protein, a marker of generalized inflammation
· Decreases risk of rheumatoid arthritis
· Reduces blood pressure
· Improves beta cell function and pancreas
· Reduces insulin resistance
Vitamin D is truly the forgotten child. We used to think 400 IU, was adequate and we’re creeping up to 2000. However, my colleague, Dr. Walter Willett of Harvard’s Department of Public Health and Nutrition strongly recommends 2000-10,000 IU, as a daily regimen for most people. I personally recommend that you have your Vitamin D blood level evaluation by your doctor since I had found that 2000 IU was inadequate for me.
When you consider that half of Hawaiians and more than half of people who live in Arizona are Vitamin D deficient you recognize that sunshine alone (especially using sun block) does not provide all of our needs. For years we have relied on calcium and medication to improve bone density when Vitamin D is ultimately the most important factor.
One recent study demonstrated that adequate Vitamin D intake was associated with reduced shortening of the ends of chromosomes. Just think you can improve both memory and your genetics. That is why I felt it important to add this necessary ingredient to Able-Eyes, which I take twice daily with meals.
